Elderhood Roundtable at the Lacey library December 18th at 1:30pm! Join us on December 18th at the Lacey Library at 1:30 for an informative and interesting look at medical marijuana and mushrooms in the context of how they can help with many of the conditions that accompany aging. These natural plant and fungal allies have been used for thousands of years before Big Pharma began pushing pills and synthetic chemical concoctions as treatments for the natural changes we experience as we age. We will discuss the history of these natural medicines as well as the modern research on conditions that can be treated, their effectiveness and the relative safety compared to pharmaceutical treatments. For many years, the only research that was supported by the government were those projects focused on finding harms, not benefits. There have been many recent studies however, showing great benefits to these often maligned natural treatments. The information will be presented by Glenn Harper, an aging and end of life caregiver and certified medical marijuana consultant and Joanne Lee, spiritual coach, guide and local artist. It should be noted that neither Glenn nor Joanne are medical professionals and this information is provided with the caveat that everyone do their due diligence in determing what, if any, natural medicines are right for them. If you have a serious condition, consult your physician before undertaking any sort of change in your lifestyle or diet. Mark your calendar for Dec.18th, 1:30pm at the Lacey library. Free admission but donations of canned goods for the Thurston County Food Bank gratefully accepted. Aging is challenging. We shouldn't have to face it alone. To paraphrase a country song, "Let's fall to pieces together. Why should we all fall apart?" |
